Safety Spoiler – Free Movie Review

Thank you to Disney for providing an advanced screening of Safety for this review. All opinions are my own.

I will admit I am not a sports fan. There I said it! But, I do enjoy big game days, because of the food mainly but also the camaraderie of it all. Seeing all different kinds of people coming together for one cause is so special to me. Which is why I love a good feel good sports movie, because although I may not know anything about the main sport involved, it’s the story for me. The Camaraderie, the brother or sisterhood in being in a team together. I love that they dig so much deeper into everyone’s stories.

I am so excited to get the chance to review Safety because this movie is a must watch for any sports fan or even someone who enjoys a feel good movie.

Safety is inspired by a true story of former alumni of University of Clemson, Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), who continuously faces challenges and adversities while being a student athlete. But with dedication, persistence and a little…ok ok a lot of help, from his teammates and community. He succeeds on the field while also caring for his 11 year old little brother.

My Review – Safety

Safety is a must watch! It is the epitome of family isn’t always blood and as someone who knows that first hand, this movie really spoke to me. The saying “It takes a village” rings true in this film, because whether you are a parent, uncle or brother, raising a kid is no easy feat. Having help, in anyway shape or form is essential for success as a parent or parental unit. As a foster mom this message really hit home for me. Which is why I loved this movie in every form. It made you feel every emotion and you could almost feel what Ray was feeling. You rooted for him every step of the way and I wanted to just reach into the screen and tell him everything was going to be okay.

after learning that this was inspired by a true story, I think it made the message that much more emotional. Seeing how this movie can inspire others as well to step up in life for themselves and for the people around them. It’s a great reminder that the family we have is the family we build. Sometimes that includes those connected to us by DNA and sometimes its the people we meet within our teams and our community. What’s important is that it is up to us.

My Final Thoughts on Safety

I don’t want to give anything away because it definitely is a movie you have to watch with your family, whoever that may be. Safety is one of the best feel good sports movie out there. It is everything you expect from a Disney film and everything you would want from a movie about family and community.
