Anything for Selena: The Series

Growing up Selena was a HUGE part of our daily life. Whether my mom was cleaning, cooking or I was getting ready to put on a concert for the whole family. Selena was always the music of choice. I remember my mom singing “Como La Flor” at every family party and say “Mira hija, canto como Selena.” We would all giggle and join in. I was only 4 years old when Selena was tragically killed. But every year my mom would watch every Selena special honoring her life.

I still have home videos of me getting ready in my purple velvet top and slicked back pony tail ready to perform her hits. I would use my karaoke mic and sing like I was on stage in Houston, Texas.

Selena: The Series

So When Netflix announced they will be premiering a series about her like I was stoked! I’m obsessed with the movie! I am so excited to watch a series that shows her life before becoming a big star.

Synopsis:

Before she became the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena Quintanilla was a young girl from Texas with big dreams and an even bigger voice. Selena: The Series explores her journey from singing small gigs to becoming the most successful female Latin artist of all time — and the years of hard work and sacrifice the Quintanilla family navigated together.

From executive producers Jaime Dávila, Rico Martinez, Hiromi Kamata, Suzette Quintanilla, Simran A. Singh and Moises Zamora, SELENA: THE SERIES was created by Zamora, with Don Todd (“This is Us”) consulting, and stars Christian Serratos, Gabriel Chavarria, Ricardo Chavira, Noemí Gonzalez, and Seidy López.
