Before We Get Started
Buttermilk Pancakes are pretty simple to make you just have to remember a few things.
Don’t over mix your batter. What makes these pancakes so fluffy is the air that gets caught in the mix. If you see little lumps that’s okay! We don’t want these to be flat tortillas.
Let It Rest. After you mix the batter, let it rest for a few minutes. Use this time to warm up your griddle.
Use Real Buttermilk. If you can find real buttermilk use it! It takes things to the next level. If you can’t find any buttermilk anywhere you can definitely still use the milk and vinegar technique.

How to Make Homemade Buttermilk Pancakes
Get all of your ingredients ready before starting. Sift your flour, whisk your eggs, get everything measured out and ready to go.
- In a large bowl add your dry ingredients and mix until combined.
2. Slowly mix the wet ingredients with your dry ingredients and mix until combined. Be sure not to over mix.
Let your mix rest for about ten minutes. At this time heat up your pan, do a happy dance, whatever you need to pass the time. Once it’s set and the pan is warm, spray some cooking spray or add butter and pour about 1/2 cup of batter. Wait until you see bubbles forming then flip! Be sure not to press down on the pancake after doing this or it will result in a flat pancake.

That’s it! You can keep these plain and simple or add in whatever you like. I am a big fan of chocolate chips in my pancakes so I’ll add those when I’m feeling fancy.

- 2 Cups Buttermilk
- 2 Eggs (lightly beatened)
- 1/4 Cup Butter (Plus 4 Tablespoons)
