Things may be a little different this year in the way we celebrate the holidays but that doesn’t mean we still can’t enjoy it. I love a good hot cocoa, there’s something special about sitting on the couch with nothing but the Christmas lights on sipping on a nice hot chocolatey drink. It’s something I have to do the night we put up our tree. It’s been my own personal tradition for years.
Throughout the years I’ve always wanted a place big enough to host a Christmas party. I’ve dreamt of a huge spread of Christmas baked goods and decked out Hot Cocoa Bar people would talk about until the next Christmas party. One day I’ll get there and although this year we are staying socially distanced I still created a tiny space in our kitchen to add my own mini version of a hot cocoa bar. It’s not much and nothing to write home about but the kiddos love it so that’s enough for me.
We don’t have much kitchen space so I wanted something cute and obvious without cluttering our counter. I headed to The Dollar Tree and found everything I needed to make it perfect for us.
What You’ll Need:
We love Disney so any excuse to add some Disney flair I will. I added this cute Mickey Mouse Jingle cup we got from the Parks last year.
Toppings:
- Crushed Peppermint
- Mini Marshmallows
- Chocolate chips
- Whipped Cream
- Chocolate Syrup
- Caramel
- Toffee nut crunch
The possibilities are endless and is really up to your preference. We only had space to put out three toppings a time but I plan to rotate them throughout the season.
Of course you’ll also need to figure out if you’d like to do instant packets and set them out so they are easy to grab and prepare or if you plan on making your own hot chocolate on the stove top to host a family movie night.

What I love about creating the perfect DIY Hot Cocoa Bar is that it is fully customizable for your taste. Since we have ours out near our coffee maker it’s double the fun because if we feel like we want to fancy up our morning cup of coffee with a little extra goodness we can.

Enjoying a nice cup of hot cocoa is the best way to start or end the day. We love hot cocoa while watching Christmas movies, decorating our home and especially going out to see the neighborhood Christmas lights.
