WandaVision Episode 5 Review
Who’s Doing This To You?
I didn’t intend to write a review for every episode but I think this one is deserving of its own full post. In WandaVision Episode 5, which honestly I don’t even know the name of the episode yet. When we clicked on it it still read as “Episode 5.” That’s how quick we were to watch it.
Anyway, I digress. This episode was mind blowing to say the least. In the first few minutes of the episode we get a glimpse of Wanda and Vision’s neighbor Agnes starting to become aware of what’s going on. There’s a part where she comes into their home offering her help and almost forgets her lines so she looks to Wanda to “start from the top.” Wanda plays it off but this leaves Vision confused and suspicious.
This isn’t the only instant we see this though. Throughout the episode we notice small interactions with Wanda and her neighbors acknowledging that Wanda is in control. You almost miss it though because it’s said in such a light hearted manner you almost think of it as a joke if you aren’t paying close attention.
The scene that shook me the most regarding this new sense of awareness was when Vision was back in his office and his colleagues are excited over their new computers when a message from S.W.O.R.D is shown on screen asking if anyone can provide intel on what’s going on. Then Vision uses his powers to bring his friend Norm back to reality as his real self. We see him as himself, not fit for the decade Norm, begging Vision to make her stop and telling him it hurts before Vision zaps him back to the 80s reality.
Thoughts and Theories on WandaVision Episode 5
The sudden self awareness of Vision & some of the neighbors has me thinking that Wanda is starting to lose control. That this was too much for her to handle and now that Vision is questioning her motives and what is going on she’s starting to freak out. But I also believe she isn’t doing this alone. I think someone else is helping her create this alternate reality. But who? Why? If that is the case, what’s in it for them?
Before I believed that Wanda was fully being controlled or doing this against her a will, as a way of torture. Making her see and believe she has a life with Vision when in fact he’s dead, that would be the worst form of it but maybe someone was trying to make her suffer. But after episode 4 and now today’s episode of course that isn’t fully the case.
We see Wanda break the barrier to give S.W.O.R.D. a warning, to leave her alone and she will leave them alone. This scene was EPIC. We see Wanda as her true self , she comes out in her infamous Red coat and sokovian accent. She did not come to play! She made it clear to them that she is in control and will destroy anything that gets in her way. This scene was SO unexpected, to have her be aware of all and everything going around her has me believing she did create this world. But because Norm never actually mentioned a name when referring to ‘her’ I am beginning to think she’s not alone in this. I could be looking way into it but what I’ve learned about Marvel is that nothing is as it seems.
Why Does Monica Not want to talk about Captain Marvel?
Okay, so we all know Monica is the daughter of Maria, Captain Marvel’s best friend and founder of S.W.O.R.D. But there is a scene when Jimmy mentions that Captain Marvel came close to defeating Thanos after Monica said that Wanda was the only one who was close enough to take him out. Monica made a look that honestly had me screaming ” WHY DID YOU MAKE THAT FACE?” Then Darcy goes to ask how Captain Marvel got her powers and Monica Says, ” We aren’t talking about her, we are talking about Wanda?” UMMM, excuse me!? What happened between Monica and Carol Danvers? Why does she have an attitude towards her? I LOVE LOVE LOVE Captain Marvel! She is my most favorite Avenger. So I took notice ASAP the attitude towards her.
Of course we won’t have answer right away. Marvel likes to plant little seeds throughout the universe and reference them years later and have them all connect in a variety of different ways. Regardless I am so excited to learn more about their relationship. I wonder if post her return and pre being sucked into Westview, Monica went to visit Captain Marvel. Maybe it had something to do with her mom? Who knows, but I am excited to find out.

The Big Reveal
We all knew a big character reveal was coming right? It’s Marvel for goodness sakes, of course that was going to happen. Personally I thought Nick Fury or even Doctor Strange would be the ones the show up.But never say never the show isn’t over yet and we know Marvel isn’t done with surprising us.
Admittedly I didn’t understand who Evan Peters was and his place in the MCU. I wasn’t into X-Men so I had to look him up to get an understanding of his character. But honestly Darcy put it best, “She’s recasting Pietro?” Once I realized who he was I was shocked! But my question is if Wanda can feel everything that is going on in Westview how is it that Pietro was able to make it through the barrier without her noticing? Maybe her fight with Vision had her distracted? Or maybe the somewhere out there the Avengers trying to find a way to help her, so when she broke through the barrier to confront S.W.O.R.D. she opened some type of portal that allowed him in?
I love Marvel movies for many reason but the main one being how a show or a movie can bring us all together to discuss ideas and theories. The fact that so many fans out there gather around their screens to discuss this amazing universe they have created is beautiful.
The people who work at Marvel will never seize to amaze me. It is incredible how they can take different stories from the comics and create these complex story lines that intertwine with other story lines and connect them to make one big universe.
